The NMPA has officially approved our novel cephalosporin antibiotic NVP-412 (ceftaroline-tazobactam) for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI) and hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP), including infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.
NVP-412 demonstrates strong in vitro activity against ESBL-producing organisms and certain carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE). Phase III trials showed non-inferior efficacy versus standard therapy with a consistent safety profile.
"Multidrug-resistant infections remain a major global health challenge," noted the head of anti-infective R&D. "The approval of NVP-412 marks fifteen years of sustained investment in this field."
