Imatinib

Imatinib is a small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting the BCR-ABL fusion protein, revolutionizing chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) treatment and transforming a once-fatal disease into a manageable chronic condition.

Mechanism of Action

Imatinib selectively inhibits BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase activity, blocking proliferation signaling in Philadelphia chromosome-positive cells; it also inhibits KIT and PDGFR, supporting use in gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
